Frequently Asked Questions for Applicants
I’m not an early career trainee. Should I attend or apply?
All are welcome to attend the public talks on the education track during the first week. Some of these are methods tutorials, so the relevance and usefulness of those sessions will vary depending on your background in statistics and R. Later in the spring, we’ll update the schedule to include information on helpful pre-requisites for each session.
In terms of the hackathon project track and participation in the second week, we are aiming to admit participants from a mix of levels/career stages, with some priority given to early career trainees. We are happy to consider applications from anyone (generally undergraduate students and above, including PIs) for whom it would be valuable to gain experience doing hands-on analyses with LEVANTE.
Can I apply as a group?
The first week of talks and tutorials are public, and you are welcome to watch/participate together as a group. If you are open to hosting others as well, please feel free to reach out to us (levantehackathon@gmail.com) — we’d be happy to help advertise your group as an official hub.
For the second week, hackathon applications are evaluated per individual. We hope to facilitate new collaborations, so hackathon project ideas are pitched to the full group and open to others to join (most project groups will be virtual/hybrid). If you have a specific project idea with a closed team that you want to work with, that project may not be a good fit for this event.
How can I reach you if I have a different question?
